Hazelfern Cellars

Bryan and Laura Laing started making wine in a Portland basement in 2006. In 2014 they moved their family to a farm in the Chehalem Mountains outside Newberg, where they make wine in a converted barn on the property. Hazelfern is a husband-and-wife operation focused on small-lot Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Gamay Noir, Syrah, and Trousseau Noir, all with a food-friendly profile: bright acidity, lively structure, and balance.

Bryan taught himself winemaking and has refined his approach over nearly twenty vintages. Laura co-produces alongside him. Their wines have earned consistent recognition from critics including Jeb Dunnuck, James Suckling, the International Wine Report, and Owen Bargreen.

In addition to the Hazelfern label, Laura and Bryan produce Wildfern, created to reach newer wine drinkers and accounts looking for quality Oregon wine at a more accessible entry point.
