What wines does Uncommon Hours carry?
Our portfolio is focused on Willamette Valley Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from small, independent Oregon producers. We look for wines that are well-made, site-expressive, and produced with intention, typically from family-run farms making limited quantities. Every wine in the portfolio has a clear purpose and a real story behind it.
Do you sell directly to consumers?
No. Uncommon Hours is a licensed wholesale distributor. We sell to restaurants and retail wine shops in Connecticut. If you’re a consumer looking for the wines we carry, we’re happy to help connect you with a shop or restaurant in your area.
What area of Connecticut do you cover?
Our primary focus is lower Fairfield County, particularly Greenwich, Darien, New Canaan, Westport, and the surrounding towns. This is where most of our relationships are today, and it’s where we see the strongest opportunity for Oregon wine. We’ll also work with accounts in other parts of Connecticut when the fit is right.
I’m a restaurant or wine shop in Connecticut. How do I work with you?
We’d love to hear from you. We work directly with on-premise and independent retail accounts – no sales reps, no handoffs. When you work with Uncommon Hours, you’re talking to the people who chose the wines and know them inside and out. Get in touch and we’ll set up a time to walk you through the portfolio.
I’m an Oregon wine producer. Are you taking on new partners?
We’re selectively building our portfolio and are always open to conversations with the right producers. We look for independent, small-production Willamette Valley wineries making high-quality wines with a real sense of place. If that sounds like you, let’s talk.
What makes Uncommon Hours different from other Connecticut wine distributors?
We’re intentionally small, founder-led, and focused exclusively on Oregon. We don’t carry a massive portfolio – we carry a tight one, and every wine gets our full attention. We’re also transparent with our producer partners about pricing, placements, and what’s working in the market. Our model is built around relationships, not volume.
Why is Oregon wine underrepresented in Connecticut?
Most small Oregon producers have very limited distribution outside of their home state. They typically sell through their tasting rooms and a handful of local wholesale partners. Breaking into East Coast markets requires a distributor who understands the wines, knows the market, and is willing to do the hands-on work of placing and selling them account by account. That’s exactly what we do.
What is the Willamette Valley?
The Willamette Valley AVA is Oregon’s premier wine region, stretching about 150 miles through northwestern Oregon. It’s a cool-climate growing area known for producing world-class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The valley contains eleven distinct sub-AVAs, each with unique soils and microclimates, and is home to hundreds of small, independent wineries. The region has drawn comparisons to Burgundy for its focus on terroir-driven wines of complexity and restraint.
