Sealionne Wines vineyard

Piper Underbrink and Ben Stalker started Sealionne in 2021; Piper is the winemaker, and also co-owner of Privé Vineyard in the Chehalem Mountains.
Her father spent summers on a lake in Minnesota restoring classic wooden boats. One of them was named The Sea Lyon. Piper grew up watching those restorations – learning, without knowing she was learning, what it means to take something apart with care, understand each piece, and put it back together better than you found it.

Sealionne farms two vineyard areas. West Wind Vineyard sits on a steep slope on Ribbon Ridge, planted in marine sediment soils. Their Chehalem Mountains parcels are on Jory and Laurelwood volcanic soils at higher elevation. Both sites are farmed organically, sustainably, and dry-farmed. Piper ages wines in French oak, stainless steel, and clay amphora depending on what the wine needs.
